4-Tell Closes Series A Financing
January 9, 2012
2011 was a good year for Portland start-ups and great year for alto client 4-Tell. 4-Tell recently closed a Series A financing (details were not disclosed). As we’ve said before, one of the best things about working in a firm like alto is the opportunity to work with our clients from formation all the way through a major event. 4-Tell is one of those clients. Founders Ken Levy and Neil Lofgren have leveraged their experience and expertise to build a promising company on a great idea: help customers boost online sales.
What is 4-Tell? 4-Tell is a SaaS based product recommendation engine that works on any eCommerce platform. As you can read here, 4-Tell started by participating in the Netflix Prize, a contest to improve Netflix’s movie rental recommendations over the then-existing system. Beating 98.5% of the competition, 4-Tell emerged from the contest convinced that the other participants could never make their proposed solutions commercially viable – and 4-Tell was born.
Since then, alto has had the opportunity to closely work with 4-Tell and we’re excited to celebrate this most recent achievement with the company and its founders. Congratulations to the 4-Tell team!
